Advanced Treatments & Compassionate Support — Boyett Health!
Clayton graduated from Haleyville High School and went on to earn his master’s degree in Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is a proud member of the North Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association.
With a deep love for children, Clayton has a special focus on pediatrics and believes in a preventative approach to medicine—spotting risks before they become problems. Outside of work, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and golf, and is active in his church. Clayton also treasures time spent with his wife and two children.
As a child, my fascination with medicine was undeniable. My sisters would bring me their stuffed animals, and I’d bandage them up, perform imaginary surgeries, and even create IVs with yarn. While I always excelled in science—so much so that I’d read my mother’s college biology books for fun in 6th grade—math was a different story. To this day, I have no love for geometry and trigonometry.
After graduating from Haleyville High School, I enrolled in college as a Pre-Med student. However, during my sophomore year, I fell ill and visited my physician, who happened to be out of the office that day. Instead, I was seen by a nurse practitioner, a profession I hadn’t considered before. I found her approachable and thorough, and during our conversation, she suggested I explore becoming a nurse practitioner. The more I researched, the more it resonated with me. I realized I could gain practical experience as a nurse while pursuing my education, balancing hands-on learning with academic training.
I enrolled in an associate degree nursing program, which I thoroughly enjoyed. After graduation, I worked to pay off my schooling while enrolling in a bachelor’s program. Eventually, I was accepted into the early decision RN to NP program at the University of Alabama in Huntsville’s Family Practice Program.
In my second year of the master’s program, I got married. Shortly after, I passed my boards and began working at a pediatric clinic in Sheffield, Alabama. One day, my wife came across a job opportunity at Boyett Health Services in our local newspaper. Impressed by Dr. Boyett’s forward-thinking approach and the chance to work closer to home, I applied. I was thrilled to be offered a position and have been part of the Boyett Health Services family since 2007. It’s been an incredibly rewarding journey.
