Using Sedation for Oral Surgery
Sedation dentistry is the art and science of treating patients who fear the dentist for a variety of reasons. Dr. Brent Boyett will take into account your past dental problems and your medical history to prescribe an oral sedation or recommend intravenous conscious sedation. You will have little or no memory of the procedure and up to 24 hours after the procedure.

- Who is a candidate for sedation dentistry? People who have high fear, traumatic dental experience, difficulty getting numb, sensitive gag reflex, and high stress level associated with dental procedures.
- Will I be unconscious? No, you will be deeply relaxed but in control of your breathing, and you will be responsive to verbal commands.
- Will I be monitored? Yes, you will have oxygen saturation and vital signs monitored. At least one of our trained team members will be with you at all time.
- How long will I be sleepy? You may nap through the entire day and into the night.
- Will someone need to accompany me? Yes, you will need a driver and someone to stay with you at home the rest of the day.
